Avril Sweeps Charts

Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" scores the artist her first Hot 100 chart-topper as it moves 3-1, a day after its parent album, "The Best Damn Thing" (RCA), debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200.

"Girlfriend" was fueled by 156,000 digital downloads and becomes Lavigne's fifth top 10 on the Hot 100. Her prior best showing was with "Complicated," which peaked at No. 2 in 2002.

Last week's No. 1, Timbaland's "Give It to Me" featuring Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake slips to No. 2, while Akon's "Don't Matter" drops 2-3. However, with his guest turns on Gwen Stefani's "The Sweet Escape" (5-6) and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's "I Tried" (35-7), Akon becomes the first artist since 50 Cent in May 2005 to simultaneously place three songs in the top 10.

Elsewhere on the Hot 100, Fergie's "Glamorous" featuring Ludacris remains at No. 4, T-Pain's "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')" rises 7-5 and is the fastest growing track at radio, Mims' "This Is Why I'm Hot" drops 6-8 and Pink's "U + Ur Hand" inches up 11-9, her first top 10 placement since 2002's "Just Like a Pill." Gym Class Heroes' "Cupid's Chokehold" featuring Patrick Stump is down 9-10.

For Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, "I Tried" gives the veteran group its first top 10 Hot 100 hit since "Look Into My Eyes" (from the "Batman & Robin" soundtrack) reached No. 4 in 1997. The act's new album, "Strength and Loyalty," arrives May 8 via Full Surface/Interscope.

This week's top debut belongs to Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" at No. 41. Also new is former "American Idol" contestant Bucky Covington's "A Different World" at No. 63 and Atlanta hip-hop combo Shop Boyz's "Party Like a Rockstar" at No. 80. The latter song, marked by the catchphrase "Totally, dude," also climbs 20-13 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, which is ruled for an 11th consecutive week by Robin Thicke's "Lost Without U."
